The Willows
lost by 8 wickets

On another pleasant day at Loburn the toss was lost and TBHS inserted The Willows team. A solid start from Tim McConnell and Ben Stayt saw us through to 44 before McConnell was cut short. David Kelly came in and pushed on for a solid 41. Wickets were hard to come by for the TBHS team in batsman friendly conditions. The experienced duo of Nigel de Maine and Phil Harris added a partnership of 106 ensuring The Willows reached a respectable but certainly achievable total of 229.

In the field the TBHS team stuck to their task well restricting the flow of runs particularly in the final 10 overs; the true standout being McGregor Isbister with 2/28 from his 10 overs.

The Willows knew that a tidy bowling performance was required. Instead, TBHS played with courage and resilience. An excellent opening stand of 135 between Caleb Donaldson and Liam Andrews left TBHS daring to believe. They had last won this encounter ten years prior. Liam Andrews brought up his century and retired shortly thereafter on 110. It was a superb knock that put The Willows to the sword and one for which we had no answer.

The excellent batting continued with Toby Clemett compiling a well-rounded 54 not out and victory was achieved in the 36th over. A resounding victory for the boys and one well deserved. Next season The Willows will be hungry to reclaim the Mark Parker trophy. On this performance this particular captain fears for his job but is eager for a chance at redemption.
