The Willows
won by 28 runs

It was great to see the boys and their parents from the Southwest schools support the annual Willows game.

The Willows were inserted on a greenish track and normal Willows transmission was resumed by Dave Kelly following the recent quakes. He scored a flawless ton, the first of the year at The Willows, before retiring. The rest of the team mustered 99 between them! A great deal of credit should go to the Southwest team who stuck to their guns and never stopped trying; best bowling was T Bridgeman with 3 for 32.

The Southwest innings started promisingly, with Bridgeman again performing well with 35, Rennie 42 and Partridge 41, but the steady loss of wickets saw the team fall short at 171 at the end of 50 overs. Bowling for The Willows, the wily Stan Wooliscroft wove a spell over the younger lads with 2 for 24, and Mario Williams returned the figures of 3 for 23.

A great win for the home team and a lovely day for everyone.
