The Willows Team arrived with great expectation with names like Wakefield, Burnett, Richards, Tapper, all who have toured with Willow Youth Teams, Inglis (senior pace bowler), and old hands like M Johnston and P McEwan.
As per usual The Willows batted first but unfortunately most players got a start but nobody went on. Too many loose shots against an accurate bowling attack saw The Willows bowled out for just 110. A top score of 22 and only one duck tells the story. All of the STAC bowlers bowled accurately but due to the lack of application by The Willows batsman the bowling attack was never put under any pressure. Cornish with his left arm slows was the pick of the bowling with 5/24.
With 110 on the board The Willows opened with James Tapper and Scott Inglis. Tapper had immediate success and with STAC at 2/4 they were in the game again. Well, so we thought. Enter Will Hamilton and Llew Johnson. These two lads proceeded to dismantle The Willows bowling attack. Both finishing undefeated. They showed everyone just how to play, with excellent shot making and running between the wickets they kept the scoreboard turning over.
At 111 for two wickets off 27 overs it was decided to retire both batsmen and The Willows team provided some excellent match conditions practice for a number of the STAC team. Congratulations STAC and well played.
