The Willows
won by 2 runs

The Crusaders won the toss and elected to bat first on a greenish but evenly grassed wicket. The openers batted very well against a steady opening attack of Richard McGuire and Bruce Irvine who bowled six overs each for 15 and 19 runs respectively. The Crusaders opening partnership of 65 was finally broken by Doug McMillan in the 19th over and the incoming batsman found scoring difficult. After 50 overs the Crusaders had scored 190 with the last pair putting on 31 runs in the final six overs.

The Willows opening batsman, Mike Hamel and Darin Cusack batted superbly scoring 76 runs in 18 overs. Their partnership laid the foundation for the remaining Willows batsman and they passed the Crusaders total in the 46th over for the loss of seven wickets. The game was played in an excellent spirit and mention also needs to be made of the high standard of umpiring. Many thanks also to the caterers and match officials.
