The Willows
won by 43 runs

This was another clinical display by The Willows team who won the toss, batted and amassed 121 runs before the first wicket fell, that of Derek Burrell who had contributed 16 to the partnership. Kieren Ambler brought up his 100 not long thereafter and duly retired. Other useful contributions by Langrope and W Burrell, saw The Willows reach 256/6 at the end of 50 overs.

The Shirley chase never got going against the tight bowling from The Willows openers Michael Owens and David Grocott. Michael took 1/13 off 5 and David 1/23 off in, including four maidens.

The leading wicket taker for The Willows was Phil Harris with 3/36 off 10. The Shirley wickets fell regularly, but a partnership of 64 for the ninth wicket added some respectability to the score with the visitors 213/9 at the end of 50 overs.

Without doubt the highlight of another magnificent day at The Willows was Kieren Ambler’s 100 for which he was duly recognized as the “Man of the Match”.
