The Willows
won by 81 runs
Batting first on a good wicket, The Willows accumulated at a steady pace. Peter Devlin played with precision, the fluency of his stroke play improving the longer he continued. Peter anchored a number of partnerships allowing the scoring rate to gain momentum with Mark Landon-Lane and Mark Priest. That Peter should go on to reach a century was due reward for a fine innings.
Chasing 233 the boys struggled with the accuracy of the Willows bowling. Easy runs (apart from those procured by the skipper’s repeated misfielding) were not to be had. The boys were unprepared to break up the dominance our bowlers enjoyed and with the game out of reach, both Mark Savill and Peter Williams deceived all with a late flurry of wickets.
