Flaxton Wanderers 191/4

The Willows
lost by 4 wickets

Filled with anticipation following last year’s moral victory, the wind was quickly snuffed out of the Willows’ sails as we amassed a total of only 190. Ben Yock scored a hard hitting 60 before compulsory retirement (Peter Fulton was in the Flaxton side – this rule hastily added without Mike Dormer knowing!). Colin Hight ensured we got past the 1 50 mark with a 50 run partnership with Graeme lnglis.

Flaxton Wanderers made the game look easy with most batsmen getting into double figures. Peter Fulton had the dubious distinction of facing his boss, Richard Reid, and was warned to go easy on the part time bowler, especially since the players contracts are due for reconsideration.

Interestingly Peter Fulton was named Captain of Canterbury Cricket team a few days later! . Craig Thiele already has plans for a revamped Willows bowling attack for next year’s fixture. Watch this space.
