The St Andrew’s captain had the foresight to win the toss and ask the Willows to bat. Immediately his side had the Willows in trouble with Rugg, McFedries, Cunneen and Latham all back in the pavilion for just 15 runs. When opener McRae went at 35 , it could have been an early finish, however the Willows captain had other ideas . Sixty minutes later he was dismissed with his personal score at 75 and the team score at 115 . It took a last wicket stand of 34 between Masefield and McGuire to get the Willow to a modest score of 154. Borren bowled very economically for St Andrew’s, conceding 14 runs from his 10 overs as well as picking up two wickets, and Dunnett took four wickets for 31 .
S t Andrew’s started with a hiss and a roar losing its first wicket at 32 but thern slumping to 59 for 5. Then came the best partnership of the day between Khan (31) and Harris (34 not out). Khan in particular showed he has excellent balance and a good range of shots , whereas Harris showed an ability to graft it out to the end. It was his innings that managed to get them a well deserved victory. Only Andrew Nuttall bowled with accuracy – 10 overs for 14. When a team bowls 21 wides it is difficult to win!
