The Willows
lost by 41 runs
After losing the toss, windy conditions hampered the Willows fielding effort in the morning and 44 extras contributed handsomely to the Suburban score of 245. Good batting initially from Emerson, Knowles and Murray suggested that a score in the vicinity of 280-290 was possible. A tight 10 overs from the Willows bowlers after lunch prevented such a large total, although efforts in the field diminished towards the end of the innings.
A bright start from Inglis, James and Wade Burrell ensured that the target was attainable. Seven Willows batsmen reached double figures but a longer innings to give the innings sub stance was not forthcoming. We reached 204 which was only an average effort given the pitch condition, and certainly did not do justice to the efforts of the ground staff. The batting certainly was not assisted by keen fielding and good bowling ably lead by Rob Withers.
