Pipped at the post by 4 balls! The Willows won the toss and took first use of a slightly dampened pitch. We committed the ultimate sin in one day cricket and self- destructed in only 41 avers for 147. This score was always going to be a problem to protect.
However, with effective straight bowling and enthusiastic fielding, the smallish total still proved to be a great challenge to the visitors. At 57 for 4 and 139 for 8 the game was still very much in the balance.
With 12 balls remaining, Chris Kennedy decided to throw caution to the wind and hit three streaky boundaries to seal the game for London NZ.
This match once again proved what a great game cricket is. No matter what score the first team attains, they are runs in the book and within reason they can be protected if the bowling is directed and the fielding effort is wholehearted.
Thank you London NZ for a wonderfully enjoyable game of cricket.
