Ohoka Swamphens 182

G Senior 41, J Ward 5/43

The Willows 184/5

C Cornelius 58*, J Pawson 44*

The Willows
won by 5 wickets

On a bright, sunny and very warm day Ohoka won the toss and elected to bat, losing a very early wicket to the bowling of Jason Pawson. Good partnerships between Hamilton and Scott, and also Archer and Senior enabled the Swamphens to achieve182, in spite of excellent bowling from Jarrod Ward, who took 5 for 43 with his slow off-spinners.

The Willows, with a very youngish team, accounted for the Swamphens bowling attack and with good innings from Jonathan Bisman, Cleighten Cornelius and Jason Pawson completed the task for the loss of only five wickets.

The Willows look forward to a rematch with the Ohoka Swamphens in the 1998/99 season.
