The Willows
won by 4 wickets

Once again a great day’s cricket in the country.

The Willows won the toss and elected to field. Phil d'Auvergne with his line up felt pretty confident at this stage. Willows’ Byron Newton and Paul O’Donnell were looking good for the first 2 avers and then came the onslaught by Greg Mathews. He timed the ball very sweetly all over the ground, with mid on and mid off in the firing line.

O'Donnell found his straps with a good line and pace and started to extract a bit more out off the track. Phil d'Auvergne took the first wicket by getting O’Donnell well caught by R Hayward. Then Mark Savill came in to play taking a one handed screamer at 3rd slip. A change of tactics introduced Adam Young, a very impressive right arm orthodox spin, which he executed with flight and change of pace. Greg Mathews left the scene with 66, a wonderful display of hitting.

Matthew Wright and Cameron Rennell carried the Willows through and at tea were 1/77. Both were very impressive, running well between the wickets and picking up boundaries when needed. Fielding and Savill had the next partnership with both players complimenting each other by turning the strike over. Savill finished on 31 . In the end a win to the Willows in the 45th over with five wickets down.
