The Willows Cricket Club welcomed to the ground for the first time, Blackbridge Cricket Club, from Victoria. Blackbridge were on there first ever tour of New Zealand, and The Willows were pleased to be able to host them.
Blackbridge won the toss and elected to bat compiling a very competitive 194, with John Garry and Dan Vann Willows members on loan for the day making useful contributions, Stan Wolliscroft finished with bowling figures of 3-32. in reply The Willows made short work of the run chase reaching the target in 28 overs with the main contribution with the bat coming from Toby Munt with 73, he was ably supported by Carl Paterson 42, and Mike Singleton 39.
More importantly the fixture represented what the game of cricket is about, and the spirit in which it should be played in. The Willows congratulates Paul Bridges – Black the Blackbridges CC founder and his family for the what they have achieved, and for what they are doing for there cricketing community.
