The Willows selected a useful side to try to balance the ledger in this annual fixture. Having wan only two of the previous ten games, The Willows were determined to win this game and after 10 overs with the score at 58 and all ten wickets intact. Those sitting in the pavilion were more than happy with the situation. With Oliver Hutton (65) and Andrew Fullerton-Smith (35) scoring freely, Chad Romano was introduced for Hawkswood and from this point on things deteriorated. The next 30 overs produced only 63 runs and although only 3 wickets were lost the pressure was too much for the lower order. Andrew Nuttall (5/24) slowly wound up that pressure and The Willows collapsed ingloriously to lose their last 5 wickets for 10 runs for an inadequate total of 161.
Defending such a total at The Willows is not easy and so it proved. Despite some good bowling efforts, Chad Romano (34) and Robbie Deans (57) saw the Wanderers safely through to the total with only 6 wickets down. The highlight for The Willows was an outstanding running, diving outfield catch by Matt Fielding to remove Robbie with victory in sight for Hawkswood.
A highlight of the day was the father and son appearance of Andrew and Henry Nuttall and Robbie and Sam Deans.
